The Balvenie 12 Year The Sweet Toast of American Oak Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 43% ABV (86 Proof) | 750 mL

Process & Profile

This Speyside single malt begins its life with 12 years in traditional ex-bourbon American oak barrels before spending its signature finale in deeply toasted virgin American oak casks imported from Kentucky. The additional toasting in Balvenie’s cooperage amplifies wood-driven character, showcasing apprentice Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie’s innovative approach within the “Stories” series.

Tasting Notes

  • Nose: Rich malt sweetness, candied orange peel, lemon drops, gentle vanilla, toasted oak spice, a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg

  • Palate: Creamy and medium-bodied with honeyed toffee, caramelized nuts, toasted coconut, ginger spice, raspberry tartness, hints of pickled orange peel

  • Finish: Warm and balanced—vanilla oak, light licorice, honey, and lingering spice

What Makes It Special

  • First release in the Balvenie “Stories” range—an experimental twist on their heritage 12-Year expression
